Quote of the Month

In the end it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years.
- Abraham Lincoln

What's New

Soft Centred

Have a chocolate, but that one’s mine
You have the caramel, or the pra -line
Fingers off the lemon cream
Touch the cherry one and I’ll scream

And you’d better not take the fudge
Or for life I’ll bear a grudge
Stop whingeing! , stop going tut-tut
There’s one more left , and that’s the nut

Unless you want the ones I’ve tasted
All the hard centres, I have wasted.

Basset Hound
Why the long face? Well to start of with the Basset hound has a longer face than most dogs. They also have long ears in comparison to the rest of their body. They are a distinctive breed that usually weighs 40 to 60 pounds and stands about 14 inches....

Ten Mistakes
As a puppy owner you may soon realize that everyone you talk to about puppy training has something to say on the subject. Some people will tell you that you need to be more firm, others will tell you that you need better tasting treats, while others will simply say, 'Let your puppy play more. Because a tired puppy is a well behaved puppy"...

Ace
Ace and I lead a line of twelve guests on horseback up Pelican Valley on a clear Yellowstone day, a day of crystal air. The water in Pelican Creek sparkles. Sandhill cranes ride the length of the sky, their ululating as primeval as the place. Scattered across the valley, small groups of buffalo graze tall, yellowing grass, the grass barely moving in the calm noon.....

Six Not Well-Known Dog Breeds
Everybody has heard of the basset hound or the beagle. This type of dogs has proved to have many desirable qualities yet there are many other breeds of dogs that also have many good qualities but are not well-known...

My Dog
I skied past Old Faithful Lodge, its huge, dark, turreted, closed-up presence like the gothic silence of abandoned time. What seems glorious solitude to me in uninterrupted nature becomes great loneliness in a building closed against the season. In its proximity, winter lies so deeply in itself, complete, absolute, without memory of other seasons...

Introducing – Rescues and Adoptables

Did you know that we have a Blog?
Greyt Inspirations Blog

Within our blog, we have a section called Rescues and Adoptables where we list dogs that are available for adoption from various kennels, adoption groups or rescue groups throughout North America.

We show you a new dog every few days along with the link where you can find out more information about the dog.

Life is always interesting with...
four dogs and a bird; our three greyhounds, our toy poodle and our canary.

Sleeping Beauties

Mandy is very independent, except when it comes to being alone. She does not do “alone” very well; that is one of the reasons that we adopted Shadow so quickly after Mandy.

There are many times when we find Mandy sleeping with her head on Shadow but a few days ago, we found Shadow sleeping using Mandy as his pillow. Needless to say, we got a picture of this very "special" moment.
How Sweet Is That?

Now Onyx is another matter. He does not share very well. He has learned that he has to share the couch or else he is ordered to get down…but he will not share a dog bed and he does not cuddle with the other dogs. But he loves to cuddle with us which makes us very happy.

We LOVE our dogs! They keep life interesting...

We are hoping that it will be ready to go online sometime within the next few weeks.

Did you know?

Bird barks instead of sings!

The Antpitta avis canis Ridgley is a bird that looks like a stuffed duck on stilts and barks like a dog. The bird was discovered by ornithologist Robert S. Ridgley in the Andes in Ecuador in June 1998.

Thirty of these long-legged, black-and-white barking birds were found. It apparently had gone undetected because it lives in remote

parts and, of course, doesn't sing. The size of a duck, it is one of the largest birds discovered in the last 50 years.

There also are dogs that do not bark! The basenji, smallish dog with a silky copper coat, does not bark. Instead, it yodels when it get excited. Wild dogs like the African Wild Dog also do not bark.
