March 2008 Newsletter

Quote of the month

The reason a dog has so many friends is that he wags his tail instead of his tongue.

Introducing – The GlassHound

We decided that it was time to separate our
stained glass art and fused glass art from Greyt Inspirations. It was time for our "art" to have a home of it's own.

The GlassHound

The GlassHound showcases all of our stained glass windows panels, suncatchers, stepping stones, fused glass jewelry, fused glass coasters (coming soon), fused glass tiles, and much more.

There is also a Custom Order Form for custom requests.

We are very excited about our new website.

Be Kind to Animals

Always be kind to animals,
Morning, noon, and night:
For animals have feelings too,
And Furthermore, they bite.
-- John Gardner

Obedience
If you were to attend five different puppy obedience classes you would soon discover that none of them are the same. Not only would you be introduced to a multitude of specialized training methods, but each one of these legitimate methods would be altered by a trainers individual style...

Canine Vaccination Routine
Keeping your dog vaccinated is one of the most responsible things that a dog owner can do for his or her own dog and also for other dogs in the neighborhood. Most kennels, breeders or dog boarding businesses will only allow fully vaccinated and up-to-date dogs within the premises to avoid any possible contamination or spread of disease...

Bella the Mastiff
I was on a road trip a few years ago with her, from Vancouver Island to Washugal Washington. I was taking her to be bred. It was a sunny warm day and I had the car windows wide open as I drove and Bella was sleeping on the back seat of the car....

The Smartest Dog
Once upon a canine there lived a puppy named London. London was a curious looking German Shepherd, who by today's standards resembled a cross between a purebred Shepherd and a Siberian Husky. London was born in 1946 and was purchased by a retired U.S. soldier named Chuck P. Eisenmann...

Time Out
There is a new puppy in my house and he is as crazy as the last puppy that was in my house. He wants to jump on me, nip my hands, pee on my floor, bark at my friends, eat my food and sleep on my bed. I am looking at this puppy as I type, thinking, “How is this any different from bringing a wild animal into my house?”...

Introducing – Greyt Sites

Would you like to have a webstore similar to this one?
Greyt Sites can help. Visit Greyt Sites website and you'll see how easy it is.

I have had the Greyt Inspirations webstore for almost 5 years and been with the same ecommerce host for all that time. There has been no problems in all that time, customer service and support is excellent, down-time is practically non-existent and they offer a huge range of services. And they are very reasonably priced for what they offer you.

It is the best ecommerce solution that I have come across and I highly recommend it. So much so, that I have started offering a hosting service through them myself.

Life is always interesting with...
four dogs and a bird; our three greyhounds, our toy poodle and our canary.

Let's talk pet dynamics. When you have a "pack" of dogs in one household, you will find that the pack mentality and dynamics are constantly changing.
Mandy was our pack alpha for many years but we have recently noticed a gradual change over to Onyx. More times than not nowadays, she gives way to Onyx.
This change is happening very gradually and almost unoticeably to the untrained eye. We let things happen as they will, only interfering when (and if) necessary.
When we adopted our 2nd greyhound, we did alot of research on pack dynamics and learned a great deal about pack mentality (very interesting stuff!). This has helped us keep order over the years.
I think it is very important to learn all you can about how dogs think and react when you have more than one dog in a household. Knowing how they think helps you to deal with any issues without causing confusion to the dogs.

As a result, our dogs all know who is alpha and treat each other with respect. Most of all, they all defer to us in all matters as we are the supreme alphas in the family.

Everyone of our dogs are confident and happy knowing how things work in their home and knowing their place.

We LOVE our dogs! They keep life interesting...

Questions that have no answers...

Why do we press harder on a remote control when we know the batteries are flat?

...More Unanswerable Questions

I came across this website and thought that it IS totally cool! Tons of gadgets listed, all categorized. I spent quite a bit of time browsing through the categories and there really are some interesting gadgets.
I especially like the solar powered birdbath. Certainly not a necessity, however I love watching the birds and I love garden art but I don't like having standing water in the yard (attracts mosquitos) so of course this one attracted my attention.
Take a peak yourself, I'm sure you'll find it as interesting as I did.
